Mary E. O’Dowd
Executive Director of Health Systems and Population Health Integration for Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences

Mary O’Dowd currently works in population health at Rutgers University through the leadership and support of multi-disciplinary teams and engaging key healthcare and public health stakeholders for Rutgers-led initiatives. She led the NJ Department of Health as Commissioner after previously serving as the Deputy Commissioner and as Chief of Staff. O’Dowd held positions in hospital finance at NYU Langone Medical Center and health policy at the NJ Hospital Association and the NJ General Assembly. O’Dowd serves on the University Hospital Board of Directors as the designee of the President of Rutgers University and is a member of numerous advisory boards and centers including the New Jersey Action Coalition - Future of Nursing, the Association for State and Territorial Health Officers among others. She is a graduate of Douglass College, the Institute for Women’s Leadership Scholars Program, and earned her MPH from Columbia. O’Dowd lives in NJ with her husband and 3 sons.
